I kept seeing “fractional ownership” everywhere in RWA discussions, so I started wondering: are we giving it too much credit?
I used to think making an asset available in smaller pieces would naturally make it more liquid.
Then I started looking at what still has to happen around those pieces.
You still need eligible buyers.
You still need legal clarity.
You still need reliable payment, settlement and a market where buyers and sellers can actually meet.
That sounds obvious, but it’s easy to overlook when the token itself gets all the attention.
Dusk’s recent work around private market financing made this click for me. The focus isn’t just on making assets fractional, but on connecting the security with the people and infrastructure needed to actually make the market work.

And even that doesn’t guarantee success.
Infrastructure can reduce friction, but it can’t manufacture demand or make institutions change overnight.
So maybe the better question isn’t:
“How small can we make an asset?”
It’s:
“What does it take to make that asset genuinely investable and tradable?”
A smaller piece of an asset isn’t automatically a better market.
