Solana Just Got Faster!
Solana has officially cut its target slot time from 400ms to 350ms, marking the first reduction since the network launched. The change is the first step in a four-stage rollout that targets 300ms, 250ms and eventually 200ms.
The goal is straightforward: lower latency and faster confirmations. Solana says reaching 200ms would make the network more competitive on latency while also shortening the window in which a single
validator controls block production.
For $SOL , this is more than just a headline upgrade. Faster block production could improve the experience for trading, DeFi and other high- frequency applications, although the 350ms change itself does not automatically mean higher throughput because compute limits are being adjusted alongside the shorter slots.
350ms is only the beginning. The real milestone is 200ms. If Solana gets there smoothly without excessive block skips or validator issues, the network's latency advantage could become even more significant.
