According to CNBC, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta Platforms and Oracle have issued nearly $223 billion in bonds as of August 20 to help fund their artificial intelligence buildout, more than double the amount seen in all of 2025, according to LSEG. Krishna Guha of Evercore ISI said the surge in hyperscaler debt is helping push sovereign bond yields higher, while investors can now find yields of 4.75% to 8% on hyperscaler bonds depending on the issuer and maturity. Dominic Pappalardo of Morningstar Wealth said the bonds are largely investment grade and longer dated, while Leslie Falconio of UBS Americas said there is value in high-quality bonds from large hyperscalers and that demand has come from insurance companies, pension funds and foundations. Vishal Khanduja of Morgan Stanley Investment Management said investors should scrutinize each issue because credit quality, structure and project execution vary widely, and he estimated long-end bonds issued by investment-grade AI leaders can yield about 6.5%.
