Why Fixed-Rate Borrowing Could Change DeFi

I keep thinking about how strange borrowing in DeFi still feels. You can open a position today thinking the numbers work, and then the borrowing cost moves underneath you. It’s a bit like running a logistics company where the fuel bill changes every hour.

That’s why TermMax caught my attention. Its focus on fixed-rate borrowing and lending makes the cost more predictable, while the options side adds another layer for managing exposure.

But I don’t think fixed rates automatically solve everything. Liquidity, pricing, maturities, and how efficiently markets adjust still matter. Actually, maybe that’s the harder problem. A fixed contract is useful only if there’s enough activity around it.

What I like is the attempt to make DeFi feel less like constantly recalculating a spreadsheet and more like planning an operation with known costs.

My current view is... fixed-rate markets could make DeFi more practical, but TermMax still has to prove that predictability can scale with real liquidity.
