The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission's Innovation Advisory Committee will hold its first meeting on August 20 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM U.S. Eastern Time, which is August 21 from 1:00 AM to 4:00 AM Beijing Time. According to ChainCatcher, the agenda will cover crypto regulation, AI applications in trading and compliance, and prediction markets and event contracts.
The first session will discuss how crypto regulation could move from uncertainty to clarity, including the absence of a federal market structure, fragmented state licensing, overlapping regulatory authority, enforcement-based regulation, and ways to improve clarity under existing statutory authority. The second session will examine AI use in trading, compliance, surveillance, risk management, and Agentic Finance, including the intersection of crypto and AI. The third session will focus on prediction markets and event contracts, including federal and state jurisdiction, state lawsuits and enforcement, market manipulation, customer protection, and a long-term regulatory framework.
CFTC Chairman Michael S. Selig, IAC Chair Walt Lukken, and designated federal official Michael J. Passalacqua will deliver opening remarks.
