According to the BBC, Thai authorities said a 17-year-old girl whose body was found in a suitcase near a railway track in Pattaya died from suffocation. Pattaya City police chief Anek Srathongyoo said the autopsy showed Tunchanok Donhomla suffered some brain injury, but that was not the cause of death, and said DNA found on her body matched that of 45-year-old Australian man Simon Peter Carman, who has been charged with murder, concealing or moving the body, kidnapping a child over 15 but under 18, and taking away a child over 15 but under 18 for an indecent act.

Police said Carman was arrested 15 minutes before the body was found on 27 June, after CCTV allegedly showed him entering a condominium with Tunchanok at 03:34 local time on 25 June and later leaving alone with a large suitcase. Anek said police expect to submit the case to prosecutors by Friday, with an indictment deadline of 18 September. Carman has denied the charges and said he acted in self defense.
