A public ledger gives banks, funds, exchanges and regulators something valuable: verifiable records and predictable settlement. But the same visibility can reveal positions, transaction sizes, counterparties and trading behavior. For institutions, that can turn transparency into commercially sensitive information.
Traditional markets already solve this through different layers of access. So why should blockchain assume every participant needs the same view?
This is where Dusk becomes interesting.
DuskDS supports two native transaction models: Moonlight for transparent account based transfers and Phoenix for shielded, note based transfers using zero knowledge proofs. Phoenix can hide transaction details while supporting selective revelation through viewing keys when disclosure is required.
Citadel takes a similar approach to identity, using zero knowledge proofs and selective disclosure rather than exposing unnecessary credentials. Zedger is designed for private, compliant issuance and management of regulated assets, while Dusk provides both DuskVM and DuskEVM execution paths.
That does not prove institutions will adopt Dusk.
But it highlights a broader requirement for tokenized markets: transparency may need to become permissioned, selective and programmable.
Maybe the future financial ledger is not one everyone can see.
