At first, I thought Citadel was simply another identity layer added to blockchain—a compliance box designed to satisfy institutions.
But the deeper I looked, the more interesting the model became.
Citadel feels less like a vault for personal information and more like a Filter for proving claims. Instead of repeatedly handing over sensitive data, users can verify what is required without exposing everything behind that credential.
That changes the role of identity.
The valuable asset isn't the data itself; it's the attestation that a specific requirement has been satisfied.
The other detail I find interesting is timing. Credentials don't necessarily need to become permanent records. Once a claim has served its purpose, the underlying information can fade into irrelevance while the verification remains useful only when required.
That creates a different kind of friction.
The question isn't simply whether users trust the system. It's whether moving somewhere else becomes expensive because they have to prove Everything again.
For regulated markets, that could matter.
If Dusk can make compliance portable, privacy-preserving, and usable across financial applications, identity stops being just an onboarding requirement and starts becoming Infrastructure.
