The Coreum cross-chain bridge connected to XRP Ledger was attacked on August 9, with the attacker exploiting a flaw in the bridge relay logic during deposit verification. According to Foresight News, the funds were stolen through 94 multisignature authorized transactions over 97 minutes, draining about 199,916 XRP from the cross-chain wallet and cutting the bridge balance from about 200,000 XRP to 493.5 XRP.

The incident did not involve a breach of XRPL itself or any private key leak. The attacker reportedly forged deposit activity, causing the relay system to misidentify it as a legitimate deposit and trigger a lawful withdrawal from the wallet on the other side.
