South Korea may be one of crypto’s most important signals
There is something interesting about the South Korean crypto market.
A relatively small country has become one of the most active retail trading environments in the world, with Upbit and Bithumb controlling the overwhelming majority of domestic trading volume.
What makes Korea interesting to me isn’t simply the volume.
It’s the speed at which local sentiment can concentrate around a specific asset.
We’ve seen tokens become major trading stories in Korea while the rest of the global market was still relatively quiet. XRP, for example, has at times ranked above Bitcoin and Ethereum in trading volume on major Korean exchanges.
That makes the Korean market something I don’t like to ignore.
When Korean liquidity moves, it can sometimes reveal where retail risk appetite is heading before the broader market fully reacts.
The question I’m watching is simple:
Will South Korea remain a major source of crypto liquidity, or become one of the markets that helps define the next major narrative?
