Tried testing the Trustless Bitcoin Vaults side a bit more seriously this week and ran into something that kinda killed the vibe for me.
You lock the BTC, everything looks good, self-custody still intact which is the whole point. But when it comes to actually claiming or moving things on the DeFi side there’s this challenge period / claim delay. Can be a few hours up to a day or two depending on the settings. I get why it’s there for security, but it makes the whole “use my BTC as collateral” feel a lot less flexible than I expected.
I was hoping it would feel closer to normal DeFi speed once the vault is set up. Right now it still feels a bit clunky if you need to react to anything. The core idea of keeping native BTC and the keys is still better than wrapping, but this delay is a real friction point.
Anyone else notice the claim times feeling longer than expected or am I just impatient?
