Newton's authorization model reminded me of that. Operators evaluate transaction intent against deterministic Rego policies, aggregate approvals with BLS signatures, and allow challenges backed by cryptographic verification. The execution path is designed to be predictable instead of discretionary.
But predictable for whom?
A policy can be perfectly enforced while still reflecting imperfect assumptions. If the surrounding governance never receives the same scrutiny as the cryptography, users may mistake technical consistency for institutional fairness. Those are different forms of trust.
The longer I study authorization infrastructure, the less I care about whether rules execute correctly. I care about whether anyone can still question the rules before they become invisible.
