Hoodi Glamsterdam paused: Ethereum slips the Oct 26 testnet fork while EIP-8037 gets another look.

On October 22, 2026, the Ethereum Foundation postponed Glamsterdam on the Hoodi testnet. The fork had been set for October 26, 2026 at 17:42:48 UTC (epoch 132,352). Core developers decided on ACDE #248 to keep studying how EIP-8037 would interact with contracts already live on mainnet, and no replacement activation time was announced. The delay also cancels the planned jump of Hoodi’s gas limit to 200 million at that epoch.

This is a testnet schedule change, not a mainnet date. Amsterdam (execution) and Gloas (consensus) activations on Hoodi are off the clock; chain history is not rewound. Hoodi node operators should update clients before October 26 so they are not stuck on the old fork time — Besu 26.10.1 and Nethermind 2.2.1 already drop it. Mainnet $ETH holders need no action from this alone. Watch for a fresh Hoodi date after the EIP-8037 review.
