Blur, once the largest Ethereum NFT marketplace, said its website will close on Nov. 12 and its lending service Blend will stop arranging new loans. Monthly trading volume has dropped from about $1.43 billion in March 2023 to under $7 million in March 2026, a decline of more than 99.5%. The platform charged no trading fees and recorded zero protocol revenue over the past three years despite billions of dollars in NFT trades. Blur’s underlying smart contracts will stay on Ethereum, allowing existing loans to be repaid or withdrawn after the shutdown. The announcement follows the Oct. 2 closure of Blast, another project by founder Tieshun Roquerre, and caused the BLUR token to fall more than 20%.
