The cryptocurrency market has been underperforming since the start of the week, and the Wednesday candle opened more bearish than the others.
Bitcoin is trading below the $67k level after losing 3% of its value, while Ether has also dropped below $2k.
BNB, the native coin of the Binance ecosystem, is the worst performer among the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market cap.
It has dropped below the $600 mark on Wednesday, marking the sixth consecutive day of correction. 
Thanks to this bearish price action, BNB has now lost its place as the fourth-largest cryptocurrency by market cap to XRP. 
The bearish price action is further supported by rising short bets alongside negative funding rates in the derivatives market. 
Momentum indicators further suggest a deeper correction for BNB as bears remain firmly in control of the market. 
BNB could dip lower as the derivatives market looks bearish 
Binance’s BNB coin has dropped below the $600 mark after losing 6% of its value in the last 24 hours.
The poor performance is supported by BNB’s derivatives data.
According to CoinGlass, BNB’s long-to-short ratio currently reads 0.91. The ratio dropping below 1 indicates weakening market sentiment, as more traders are betting on BNB’s price to fall.
Furthermore, the OI-Weighted Funding Rate data shows that the number of traders betting that BNB’s price will increase is lower than that of those anticipating a price decrease. 
The metric flipped negative on Tuesday and currently reads -0.0002%, indicating shorts are paying longs and suggesting bearish sentiment toward BNB.
BNB bears could push the price to lower lows
The BNB/USD 4-hour chart is extremely bearish as the coin has lost 21% of its value over the last seven days.
At press time, BNB is trading at $589 and looks likely to retest the weekend lows. 
If BNB continues this bearish trend, it could decline toward Friday’s low of $570.06, with another support level at $550 also in the cards. 
The momentum indicators suggest that BNB could suffer further losses in the near term.
The Relative Strength Index (RSI) on the 4-hour chart reads 25, below the oversold conditions, indicating strong bearish momentum.

Furthermore, the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) showed a bearish crossover three weeks ago, which remains intact, further supporting the negative outlook.
While the bears remain in control, the bulls could push for control if the Friday low of $570 holds in the near term. If that happens, BNB could rally towards the Inducement Liquidity (ILQ) level at $671 over the next few days.
An extended bullish run would allow BNB to advance toward the weekly resistance level at $709.29.
However, the market conditions are extremely bearish, and a bounce could be slow.

Bitcoin slid to $66,000, down from $68K, as buyers continued to disappear. Gold gained on the back of a weaker dollar and falling Treasury yields, with spot prices up 1.8% to $5,111.30 and April futures hitting $5,136.50.
Silver surged 6.6% to $85.98, fully wiping out its 3% drop from the day before. Platinum jumped 4.8% to $2,187.30, while palladium rose 3.5% to $1,767.10. The dollar hit a two-week low, helping metals rally across the board.
Traders now expect two 25bps Fed cuts in 2026, according to CME FedWatch. That’s boosting demand for non-yielding assets like bullion.
Meanwhile, emerging-market assets are ripping. A rotation out of U.S. stocks is lifting everything from currencies to bonds. The MSCI EM equity index rose 0.9%, now up more than 10% for the year. The MSCI EM currency index is rising for the fourth day, with the rand and won gaining.
This follows a 30% surge in EM stocks last year, led by Taiwan and South Korea, and a 12.2% gain in EM bonds, their best year since 2012.

In Hong Kong, government officials confirmed that the territory is on track to grant its first batch of stablecoin issuer licences in March 2026 under a regulatory framework established by the Stablecoins Ordinance.
The ordinance requires prospective issuers to meet strict standards for use cases, risk controls, anti-money-laundering measures and reserve backing before they are authorized. Only a very limited number of licences is expected initially, as regulators focus on operational readiness and compliance.
Addressing the regulatory push, Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary and HKMA officials have reiterated their goal of fostering a safe and regulated stablecoin ecosystem, part of the city’s broader ambition to become a regional hub for digital finance, payments and tokenised assets.
Malaysia tests Ringgit stablecoins and tokenised deposits
In Kuala Lumpur, Bank Negara Malaysia’s Digital Asset Innovation Hub (DAIH) has onboarded three initiatives to test ringgit-denominated stablecoins and tokenised deposits for 2026.
These pilots, led by Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia, Capital A, Maybank and CIMB, will explore wholesale payment and settlement use cases, including domestic and cross-border flows. The tests are conducted in a controlled environment to assess implications for monetary and financial stability and to inform policy direction.
Under the DAIH, participants are evaluating how stablecoins and digital deposit tokens might streamline settlement, enhance liquidity and modernise institutional payment infrastructure while preserving regulatory safeguards.
Authorities in Malaysia plan to provide greater clarity on the use and policy framework for ringgit-linked digital assets by the end of 2026.
Together, these developments show a concerted regional trend toward formalising digital financial instruments.
Hong Kong’s move to grant licences for regulated stablecoin issuance dovetails with Malaysia’s ground-level experimentation with tokenised money, reflecting an increasing willingness among Asian regulators to integrate digital asset technologies into mainstream financial systems under strict oversight.
