The Difference Between
#fil and
#Arweave Temporary storage does not necessarily require blockchain technology. Most temporary storage needs are already met by internet companies, often at little or no cost. The data stored in such systems is usually not critical, and users generally have little incentive to pay for short-lived storage.
Arweave, however, serves a fundamentally different purpose. As authoritarian tendencies rise and narratives of “stability” increasingly dominate public life, certain forms of data — those that must not be forgotten or altered — need to be preserved permanently, as if carved into stone. In this sense, Arweave can function as a foundation for the eternal memory of AI.
This could represent an opportunity for humanity to resist authoritarian control and to challenge the growing tendency to trade freedom for stability.
At the same time, as more data is uploaded to Arweave, more
$AR tokens are locked into the storage fund. Over time, this mechanism reduces the circulating supply of AR tokens, potentially increasing their scarcity.
