The market drop today has left many people confused, especially since the recent talks between China and the U.S. seem to be going well. According to BBC reports, both sides have made strong progress.
President Trump described the discussions as “stunning,” and officials confirmed that major trade issues have reached a broad agreement. China has decided to ease restrictions on rare earth exports, while the U.S. will remove part of the tariffs that were previously imposed. However, many Chinese goods will still face taxes above 40%, down from more than 50% before.
Trump also said he has encouraged China to buy more soybeans and other farm products immediately. In addition, he announced that he will visit China in April next year to continue building the relationship.
China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also released a statement, saying that ties between the two nations are now stable and improving. Both countries will host major global events soon — China will lead the APEC summit in 2026, and the U.S. will host the G20 next year — showing signs of mutual cooperation.
In short, while the two powers may not be fully at peace yet, the situation has clearly shifted from conflict to conversation. The final details of the deal still need to be confirmed by their respective departments, but overall, the direction looks positive.
