The day after tomorrow, February 5th, we celebrate St. Agatha, Virgin & Martyr, patroness of bakers, bell-founders, nurses, and those suffering breast diseases.
In 3rd-century Catania, Sicily, during Decius’ persecution, Agatha, a young Christian noble, refused the advances of the pagan prefect Quintianus and would not sacrifice to idols. She was imprisoned, tortured (including mutilation of her breasts), and died from her wounds. Legend recounts St. Peter appearing in prison to heal her, and an earthquake protecting her from further abuse. Bread is blessed on her feast in memory of miraculous loaves that appeared in her cell.

St. Agatha graces for the day:
- Pray for women enduring violence, illness, or injustice.
- Offer a small act of purity, courage, or care for the vulnerable.
