The influential ideology of altruism that led to the collapse of cryptocurrency exchange FTX has made the company's decision processes increasingly irrational, according to former Alameda Research software engineer Aditya Baradwaj. Ahead of FTX founder Sam "SBF" Bankman-Fried's hearing on October 3, Baradwaj offered insights into that philosophy's role in the company's collapse. While effective altruism encourages individuals to accumulate wealth to later donate to the greater good, it has created a false perspective at FTX and Alameda Research.
