All bus routes in #Jinan, #China, now accept payment in digital yuan, and the city plans to encourage usage by offering discounts to customers who use central bank digital currency (#CBDC ).

The city said that all of its bus routes' software and card readers had been updated to enable all buses to accept payments in the Chinese CBDC, according to the news source #Shunwang-Jinan Daily (via e23).

With a population of approximately 9.2 million, Jinan is the provincial capital of the eastern Chinese province of Shandong.

Two of the city's busiest lines, B52 and BRT5, were the first to test out digital yuan payments.
