The positive growth mainly comes from the group of people over 55 years old. The survey also found that 19% of respondents would invest in a spot Bitcoin ETF listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) if one were available. Those between the ages of 25 and 44 were most interested, with 29% and 30% respectively.
About a third of survey participants said they would likely invest in Bitcoin long-term through their self-managed pension fund, but they were unsure whether they would buy Bitcoin through a crypto exchange or through a fund. ETF.
The proportion of Australians owning crypto has increased slightly from 1.9% to 27.5% between 2022 and 2024. Notably, the strongest growth was recorded among people aged 55 to 64 and aged 65 and over, with an increase of 128% and 200%, respectively.
