๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ US Midterms: A New Congress, a New Crypto Debate

$176 million went into more than 100 races during the 2026 US midterms, according to Reuters. That's how much crypto-linked political groups spent supporting or opposing congressional candidates, largely through election advertising.

And now the results are in: Democrats have won control of both the House and Senate, changing the balance of power in Washington.

But where do the 2 parties stand on $BTC crypto?

โ€ข Republicans have pushed for clearer crypto market rules, including the CLARITY Act, which passed the House in 2025.

โ€ข Democrats have also supported crypto legislation, although disagreements over consumer protections and political conflicts of interest have complicated negotiations.

Crypto companies - including Coinbase, Ripple and a16z - have supported political efforts across both parties.

What's next?

The GENIUS Act has already established a federal framework for stablecoins. But the broader CLARITY Act remains stalled after a failed Senate procedural vote in September.

The new Congress is set to take office in January 2027, potentially reshaping the future of US crypto regulation.

P.S.:
Historically, $BTC has shown positive returns in the 12 months following each of the last 3 US midterm elections!

- 2014: +23%
- 2018: +45%
- 2022:+93%

Could 2026 make it 4 post-midterm rallies in a row?
