How to confirm a chart pattern breakout starts with one rule: treat the first move through a level as a question, not an answer.

Price pokes above resistance. The chart looks exciting. But a lot of those moves reverse within a few candles. Instead of trusting the first push, run the breakout through five questions. Score one point for each yes.

QUESTION 1: Did a candle close beyond the level?

A wick through resistance only shows that price visited that zone. A candle close beyond it shows the market accepted the new price on your timeframe. If price spiked above and closed back inside the pattern, score zero.

QUESTION 2: Did volume expand?

A real break usually comes with more participation. If price clears the level while volume stays flat or fades, be suspicious. Compare the breakout candle with the candles before it, not with a random day last month.

QUESTION 3: Did price follow through?

Look at the next candles. Do they keep moving away from the level, or does price slide straight back inside? A breakout with no follow-through is just a spike.

QUESTION 4: Did the level flip?

Often price returns to the broken level and tests it from the other side. Old resistance holding as new support is one of the cleaner confirmations. If the retest fails and price drops back inside, the breakout has probably failed.

QUESTION 5: Is there room to run?

Check what sits just above the breakout. A break that runs straight into another major level has less space to work with, even if the first four answers were "yes."

HOW TO READ THE SCORE

Four or five points means the setup is worth deeper analysis. Two or fewer means waiting is reasonable. The score is a record of your own review. It is not a probability, and it does not tell you to buy or sell.

Before you act on any breakout, write down your invalidation point, meaning the price action that would prove the idea wrong, and decide your risk separately.

FINDING CHARTS TO SCORE

You can't score a breakout you haven't found. ChartScout's Pattern Screener brings detected crypto chart patterns into one view, so you can browse formations and pick charts to examine instead of opening every market by hand.

The screener does not send notifications. If you want notifications, you set up your own watchers inside Pattern Watchers, and those watchers deliver them. Neither feature confirms a breakout for you. The five questions are still your job.
