You know that $63M ETH "whale buy" everyone was celebrating this weekend? It wasn't a whale. It was a thief.

On-chain investigator ZachXBT traced the wallet behind the 27,553 ETH purchase — roughly $63M scooped up in five hours — to a suspected $106M theft from an unnamed European entity's exchange accounts. The funds were swapped into ETH precisely because, unlike USDC, it can't be frozen by an issuer. That "bullish accumulation" was laundering. And some of it is still sitting in wallets, an overhang hanging over the market.

So let's reset the picture. $ETH is trading around $2,250 this morning, down about 1.5% in 24 hours, pinned dead in the middle of its post-flush range. The 29 October sell-off tagged $2,170; the ceiling since then is $2,390. Nothing about today is a breakout — yet. It's a coiled spring, and today has three reasons to snap it one way or the other.

First, the ETF bleeding may have just paused. US spot ETH funds suffered 23 straight sessions of outflows — a record — including $431.5M in the final week of October and roughly $1.61B across the month. But 2 November printed a tiny $3.2M inflow. Tiny is the operative word: one green day does not end a trend, but after 23 red ones, it's the first crack in the story.

Second, Binance's phase-2 withdrawal reopening went live this morning across ETH, SOL, BSC and more networks. Phase 1 saw $4.65B withdrawn against $1.01B deposited in its first hours — no cascade, but no flood of money back either. How phase 2 flows land today tells you whether confidence is actually returning or just stabilizing.

Third, it's US midterm election day. All 435 House seats and 35 Senate seats are on the ballot, and the crypto market-structure bill (CLARITY Act) already failed a Senate procedural vote in September. History offers no comfort here: the last two midterm cycles gave ETH a 30-day washout in 2018 and an FTX-confounded mess in 2022. Anyone promising you a "midterm pump" is inventing a pattern from two data points.

The levels that decide it:

• Support: $2,233, then the $2,170 flush low. Lose $2,170 and $2,000 comes into view fast.

• Resistance: $2,314, then $2,357. Analysts are near-unanimous that a close above $2,314–$2,350 flips the near-term story toward $2,415–$2,550.

Majors check: $SOL is the weakest of the bunch at ~$92, sitting right on its $90.71 support — lose that and the alt complex feels it. $BNB is testing $693 support after its violent $764→$676 round-trip on hack day. XRP, quietly, is the steadiest major, flat on the day in a tight range.

And the upgrade catalyst? Forget what you've read about Fusaka "coming in December" — it already activated last December. The live upgrade story is Glamsterdam, and developers just delayed its Hoodi testnet activation over gas-change complications. No new date. So no upgrade pump is coming to save this range.

Here's what this really means: fear is at 26 on the Fear & Greed Index, ETF money just stopped leaving for one whole day, and a thief's $63M is still sloshing around the chain. The market isn't bullish or bearish right now — it's waiting. Watch $2,314 above and $2,170 below on the $ETH chart, because the first clean break of either decides the next leg for every major.
