Are you new to cryptocurrency? Before trading Bitcoin ($BTC) or other digital assets, it's important to understand the difference between Spot and Futures trading.
🔹 1. SPOT TRADING
Spot trading means buying a cryptocurrency and owning the asset.
For example, if you buy $100 worth of Bitcoin on the Spot market, you own that Bitcoin. You can hold it, sell it later or transfer it where supported.
🔹 2. FUTURES TRADING
Futures trading allows traders to speculate on whether a cryptocurrency's price will rise or fall, without necessarily owning the underlying coin.
It can involve leverage, which increases both potential gains and potential losses. You can lose your entire margin and, depending on the product, potentially more.
🔹 3. WHICH IS RISKIER?
Futures trading is generally riskier for beginners because leverage and rapid price movements can cause significant losses.
Spot trading also carries risk because cryptocurrency prices can fall substantially.
💡 MY TAKEAWAY
Learn the basics before risking your money. Never trade with money you cannot afford to lose, and don't use leverage simply because you want quick profits.
