Something big happened in market infrastructure this week, and most crypto timelines treated it like a footnote. DTCC, the custodian behind more than $114 trillion in assets, has officially launched its tokenization service. Eligible participants can now mint "digital twins" of securities held at DTC, with the same entitlements and investor protections, as crypto_news reported.

Twenty firms have already signed, including JPMorgan, Citi, Bank of America, Fidelity, Morgan Stanley and Citadel Securities. The service runs on Canton Network and DTCC's private Besu chain, and Stellar is slated as the first public chain in the first half of 2027.

For $CC , this is the strongest institutional validation it could ask for. Price did not explode, though, which tells me the market still sees Canton's value accruing to banks rather than token holders. The key question is how much volume actually settles there over the next two quarters.
