Bank of England releases a major signal! Tokenized collateral is expected to enter the core market of traditional finance!
Traditional finance is accelerating its embrace of blockchain!

On October 29, the Bank of England announced the launch of a public consultation to study how to allow central clearing institutions to accept eligible tokenized collateral. This means that in the future, traditional financial assets may participate in financial market clearing through blockchain.

Why is this worth paying attention to?
📌 More efficient fund flows: Tokenized assets are expected to transfer faster, helping financial institutions meet margin requirements in a timely manner.

📌 More flexible asset management: Managing collateral through blockchain has the potential to reduce time and operational costs in traditional processes.

📌 Further integration of traditional finance and blockchain: In the future, it will not only be cryptocurrencies; traditional financial assets such as government bonds may also participate in financial markets through tokenization.

However, the Bank of England also emphasized that tokenized collateral must meet requirements such as liquidity, valuation, secure custody, and risk management, and cannot automatically gain usage eligibility simply because it is put on-chain.

The deadline for this consultation is February 12, 2027.
From payments to asset management, and then to financial clearing, tokenization is entering the core parts of traditional finance. What do you think the next traditional asset to be massively put on-chain will be?
