What NOT to Do in Trading
A good trader is often defined less by what they do, and more by what they refuse to do. Small bad habits, repeated every day, quietly eat up capital and confidence. Here are a few to leave behind.
❌ DON'T do this:
• Don't buy at the very top just because everyone is talking about a coin — excitement is not a plan.
• Don't trade without a stop-loss or an invalidation level decided before you enter.
• Don't borrow money, or use money you need for daily life, to trade.
• Don't follow a tip blindly, and don't overtrade just to feel busy — ten rushed trades are not better than one planned trade.
✅ DO this instead:
• Decide your entry, stop-loss and target before you open a trade, and respect them.
• Risk only a small part of your capital on any single trade.
• If your setup is not there, wait. No trade is also a decision, and often the best one.
One common mistake, explained simply: buying at a FOMO peak. Price is rising fast, social media is full of excitement, and you feel you will miss out if you wait. So you buy near the top, just as early buyers start taking profit. Price then falls, and you are stuck holding a loss you never planned. The calm alternative is simple: let the excitement pass, wait for price to come back to a level you had planned in advance, and only then decide — with a stop-loss in place.
Remember: success does not come in one day. It comes from discipline, patience, risk management and learning every day.
