Blink Wallet announced a $1 monthly inactivity fee for custodial accounts whose users have not accessed the app for more than 12 months. Blink introduced the change through revised Terms of Service in early September, and the first charge occurred by mid-October. Blink's blog post says users will receive refunds if users log back in within 12 months. An unverified estimate from a source familiar with the matter put affected accounts at around 100,000, holding more than $800,000 collectively when charging began. The fee could encourage thousands of users to adopt self-custody following Blink's June 2026 launch of a Spark-supported self-custodial wallet.
