One $BTC ETF number looks bullish at first — but the next day makes the picture much more interesting.
U.S. spotted Bitcoin ETFs recorded roughly $526.7 million in net inflows on October 19, their strongest daily inflow since September 22.
That is a big number.
But on October 20, the same ETFs recorded around $6.7 million in net outflows.
So within just two sessions, the market went from a very strong inflow to a small outflow.
$BTC itself closed around $82.5K on October 20, up about 0.9% for the day.
What caught my attention is the difference between the size of the two ETF moves.
The October 19 inflow was largely driven by BlackRock's IBIT, which brought in about $665.2 million, while Fidelity's FBTC and Grayscale's GBTC recorded outflows.
Then the following session turned slightly negative.
I don't think one strong ETF day is enough to say that institutional demand has completely changed direction.
For me, the more useful signal is whether positive flows can continue for several sessions while $BTC holds its current range.
That's something I'm watching rather than trying to predict the next move.
Do you trust a single large ETF inflow, or do you wait for a few consecutive sessions before calling it a trend?
