92.65 million $ARB unlocked three days ago. The market was supposed to dump.

It didn't.

On October 16, Arbitrum released 92.65M ARB — about $18.4M worth, split between team/advisors (56.1M) and investors (36.5M). History said to brace: the last time Arbitrum faced a big unlock, in March 2024, the price fell ~26% in four days.

This time? ARB dipped ~6% to $0.179 the next day… then climbed straight back. Today it's trading around $0.197, up ~8% in 24 hours and knocking on the $0.20 ceiling.

So what absorbed the supply?

First, someone big was buying the dip. On October 18, a whale withdrew 10M ARB (~$1.8M) off a centralized exchange into self-custody — the classic accumulation move, landing right after the unlock hit.

Second, the fundamentals behind the token quietly changed. Robinhood Chain — built on Arbitrum's Orbit stack — went live in July, and reported licensing payments from it made up roughly 87% of DAO revenue in September (~$4.75M). Offchain Labs has also confirmed it is buying ARB under an approved plan (amount undisclosed). For once, the chain's biggest success story is actually paying the DAO.

Third, Arbitrum is making a serious stablecoin play. USDG launched natively on Arbitrum on October 6, and a Stablecoin Growth Program (2M ARB pool) launched October 15. A bigger DAO proposal — adding 100M ARB to the DRIP incentive budget for USDG — is in an offchain vote right now (October 15–22). Note: that's a proposal, not approved yet.

The activity backs it up: DEX volume is up 25.6% week-over-week ($1.18B in 7 days), with 1.45M daily transactions and 180K active addresses. Derivatives are calm — aggregate open interest ~$182M with only mildly positive funding. No euphoria, no squeeze setup. Just steady demand meeting fresh supply.

What to watch now: $0.20 is the ceiling — today's high was $0.1985, and a daily close above $0.20 clears the recent range and opens the path toward $0.21, then the 30-day high near $0.235. Below, $0.181–$0.186 is the support zone to hold, with the 30-day low at $0.173. Check the $ARB chart — this is the level that decides whether the unlock absorption turns into a real breakout or just a relief bounce.

Now the honest risks. ARB is still a governance token — gas is paid in $ETH, and holders get no share of protocol revenue. Monthly ~92.65M unlocks run until March 2027, with the next one in mid-November. And Arbitrum is now #2 among L2s by value secured (~$11.4B) behind Base. The chain is winning; the token still has to prove it captures any of that.

But this week, supply met demand — and demand won. That's not the story ARB usually tells.

Not financial advice. DYOR.
