Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said EIP-8288 may be the ideal path for Ethereum to support multiple cryptographic schemes. Buterin said users can generate digital signatures locally and corresponding STARK proofs for on-chain verification without consuming additional on-chain calldata space. Buterin believes this approach may eliminate Ethereum's future need to add precompile contracts for new cryptographic algorithms.
