Bitcoin just survived its third test of $80K in a week. $BTC is holding around $81.5K — and this weekend is where the real test begins.
Think about what $80K has already absorbed. September CPI came in hot at 3.7%, core at 2.6%. September PPI jumped 6.3% year-on-year. Bitcoin wicked down to roughly $79.7K — and buyers stepped back in within hours, pushing it back above $82K.
That's not luck. That's a floor being built, one test at a time.
But here's the part nobody should romanticize: this reclaim is fragile. Fed Chair Warsh gave no hint of another hike, and October hike odds fell from around 28% to roughly 15%. That helped. What hasn't turned yet is the institutional bid — US spot ETFs are still net negative over the past week despite two small green days, and weekend sessions come with no ETF trading at all. The Fed is now in blackout. The next real catalyst is the FOMC decision on October 28.
So the weekend becomes a thin-ice test. Weekend trading has shrunk to a record-low share of total volume since spot ETFs launched, and thin books exaggerate every move in both directions. A weekend breakout means little until Monday confirms it.
The levels that matter:
Support sits at $80.8K, then the $80.4K trendline, then $79.6K. A daily close below $80.4K breaks the structure and puts roughly $78K — the market's true mean — back in focus.
Resistance sits at $82.2K, then $83.2K, then $84.2K. Analysts are broadly aligned: holding above $82K–$83.2K would confirm the recovery is real, while a sustained move above $84K is what reopens the bull case.
Above that, the ceiling gets heavy. Glassnode's on-chain data shows the first big wall of long-term holder supply sitting between $83K and $86K. That supply survived the whole drawdown — it will not move cheaply.
Underneath, the quiet story is improving. Whale balances are at 3.03 million BTC, the highest since November 2025, and exchange reserves have fallen to around 2.67 million BTC. CryptoQuant's Bull Score sits at 80. None of that guarantees a bottom — but it means the sellers are running out of coins to sell, while the buyers who remain are patient.
If $ETH follows through alongside Bitcoin, it confirms risk appetite is actually coming back rather than one coin bouncing alone. And watch $USDT flows — thin weekend books mean even small flows move price more than usual.
So here's the honest read: Bitcoin held the line against the worst inflation double-hit of the year. That matters. But a bounce is not a bottom until $82K–$83.2K is reclaimed and held. Until then, $80K is the line to watch — and this weekend decides whether it holds.
