Ripple has a new connection to Elon Musk’s X Money, but the link needs to be described carefully.

Cross River Bank announced on October 15 that it is partnering with Ripple to integrate RLUSD into its core banking infrastructure, with support for transactions on the XRP Ledger. The bank said the integration will let fintechs access RLUSD payments through a single API connection for real-time settlement and cross-border transactions.

What makes this interesting is that Cross River is also the banking infrastructure provider behind X Money.

Cross River announced in July that it powers X Money, the financial-services platform built directly into X. The bank provides the regulated infrastructure for features including FDIC-insured accounts, payment capabilities and the X-branded Visa debit card. X Money’s own disclosures also state that customer deposits are held at Cross River and other FDIC-insured institutions.

Where Ripple and Elon Musk’s X Money Actually Connect

The connection is therefore real, but indirect.

Cross River now has two separate relationships:

  • it powers the banking infrastructure for X Money

  • it is integrating Ripple’s RLUSD and XRPL support into its own core banking system

That means the same banking platform used by X Money is gaining support for RLUSD and XRP Ledger transactions.

But there is no evidence in the announcements that X Money itself is using XRP, RLUSD or XRPL.

That distinction is important.

A crypto community post from MissCrypto correctly noted that this creates a technical foundation that could potentially make such an integration easier in the future, but that is still speculation at this stage.

Why the Cross River Integration Is Important for Ripple

The more concrete development is what Cross River itself is doing.

Its Ripple integration makes RLUSD another payment rail inside a regulated U.S. banking environment. Businesses using Cross River’s infrastructure can access stablecoin settlement alongside traditional payment rails without building their own blockchain stack.

That is a meaningful step for Ripple’s stablecoin strategy because it moves RLUSD closer to existing fintech infrastructure rather than keeping it isolated inside crypto-native platforms.

The Elon Musk angle is therefore worth watching, but the current facts stop at shared infrastructure.

Cross River powers X Money, and Cross River now supports RLUSD and XRPL. There is not yet any verified announcement connecting X Money directly to Ripple, XRP or RLUSD.
