On Binance you can trade oil like any crypto pair. CLUSDT is a perpetual on WTI crude: long or short, up to 100x, 24/7, from 5 USDT. It looks simple. Oil is not.
100x means a 0.5% move Max leverage 100x applies only to positions up to $50,000. At 100x the position is liquidated after about 0.5% against you. For oil that is nothing: a normal day gives 1-2%, a news day more. Plus a 1.5% liquidation fee.
The weekend trap The main oil market is closed from Friday evening to Sunday evening UTC. CLUSDT keeps trading.
On weekends only futures traders move the price. Thinner book, easier to push.
On Monday the main market opens, and if there was news (OPEC, the Middle East, sanctions), CLUSDT adjusts to that price. A high leverage position may not see Monday.
Binance can switch some pairs to "Reduce only" on weekends. You can close, but you cannot open a new position. Funding is every 4 hours, capped at ±0.5%, and Binance warns it can move more when the main market is closed.
What the data showed on Saturday, October 10 Price 90.78. Short liquidations above: $4.7M near 93.39 (+2.9%), $4.0M near 94.33 (+3.9%). Long liquidations below: $3.3M near 89.29 (-1.6%), $3.5M near 87.96 (-3.1%).

The order book has an $8.8M buy wall near 89.07, right under the long liquidation band. While it stands, it works as a cushion. If it gets pulled as price comes close, the cushion is gone.

Whales vs the crowd:
Whales: 34% long (25% a week ago). Mostly short.
Crowd: 48% long. No skew.
Whale shorts $49.9M vs $25.9M in longs.
Whale average short entry 86.92: they are down $2.1M.
Whale average long entry 90.99: almost at break-even.

So the larger side, whale shorts, is already in loss, and the short liquidation bands sit above. If price heads to 93-94, pressure on shorts grows from two sides. That is the setup, not a forecast.
One thing to ignore: on October 10 the whale short line on the map dropped straight down from about 95 to 86.92. That is the whale group being updated, not a trade.
All of this is free on PumpGlass: liquidation heatmap, order book and whale entries for oil, gold, silver and every Binance USDT-M pair. The full oil guide is in the PumpGlass Learn section.
Oil moves fast and trades on weekends without its main market. Moderate leverage and a stop matter more here than on gold.
