Everyone blamed the Fed for $BTC's crash to $80K this week.

The data says they're watching the wrong thing.

Here's what actually happened: Thursday's flush was the biggest liquidation event since August — over $1B wiped in 24 hours, ~85% of it longs, 181K traders rekt. And $ETH longs got hit roughly six times harder than BTC relative to market cap. A pure leverage washout.

But the trigger wasn't the Fed minutes.

$BTC slid to $80,427 intraday… then ripped straight back above $83,000. Why? Trump posted that the US won't strike Iran before the Nov 3 midterms. Oil dropped. Geopolitical risk unwound in hours.

That's not a rate-hike story. That's a positioning story.

Now here's what nobody's pricing in: the "10Y at 5.3% = death for crypto" narrative is empirically broken. $BTC gained 84% over the last two and a half years while the 10Y rose from ~4% to 5.365% — its highest since 2002. The S&P and Nasdaq kept printing record highs with yields at multi-decade peaks.

And those terrifying ETF outflows? Bloomberg's James Seyffart estimates the average ETF buyer's cost basis at $81,722. They sold at breakeven — a tactical de-risk at cost, not a conviction exit. Meanwhile BlackRock's IBIT still pulled in $332.5M net this October. That's rotation, not retreat.

$ETH tells the same story, only louder: 8 straight days of ETF outflows, yet it bounced from $2,405 back toward $2,490. The money isn't leaving crypto — it's moving around inside it.

So what actually decides the next move? October 14: September CPI, consensus 3.7% headline, 2.4% core.

Cool print — October hike odds, already dying near 20%, collapse and risk assets rip. Hot print — stagflation risk deepens, and that's the debasement bid: gold is holding above $4,100 with the 10Y at a 24-year high and the dollar at an 18-month high. Hard assets can win both tails.

Watch $82K. It held twice this week. Above $83.5K, the shorts that piled on Thursday's flush become fuel.
