Only 40% of Bitcoin's recent growth came from new money š§šø Glassnode found that in the 30 days to October 5, $4.9B of new capital flowed into $BTC . Over the same period, Bitcoin's realized cap grew by $12.8B. Realized cap values each coin at the price it last moved on-chain. About 60% of this growth came from investors who were already in the market, as coins changed hands at higher prices š Glassnode counts three sources as new money: š¢ Corporate treasury purchases šµ Growth in stablecoin supply š Inflows into US spot Bitcoin ETFs A similar ratio appeared after spot ETFs launched in January 2024. The 2024 and 2025 rallies had much more fresh capital behind them. The chart reflects this too. Since September 21, BTC has tried to break above $87,000 four times and met sell orders each time š§± It's now trading near $83,000. Short-term holders, who have held their coins for less than 155 days, are taking profits. When BTC closed its first weekly candle above $85K since January, about 86% of the coins sent to exchanges came from this group and were moved in profit. That was the highest share of the year, compared with under 40% on a typical day š According to CryptoQuant, their average entry price is around $78,250, so this group is still in profit overall.
