El Salvador just got $138 million from the IMF, and it still has its Bitcoin. But there's a catch.

The numbers:

🟠 ~7,794 $BTC in the national reserve

💰 Worth about $666 million

🏦 $138M released from a $1.4B IMF loan

The deal:

The IMF forgave El Salvador for adding Bitcoin when it had promised not to. In return, the country committed to no new Bitcoin purchases with public money. Donations are still allowed.

What the IMF still wants:

→ Clearer reporting of how much crypto the state holds

→ Stronger rules for crypto companies

→ The government-backed Chivo wallet fully handed to the private sector

The interesting part:

El Salvador can't buy more, but it doesn't have to sell. As $BTC rises, its reserve grows in value anyway. Bitcoin kept, buying paused.

The lesson for other countries:

Even a small nation can hold Bitcoin as a national reserve, but when you need international loans, the lenders set the rules.

Do you think more countries will follow El Salvador, or will IMF pressure scare them off? 👇
