BlockBeats news, September 28: Tether stated that since 2026, the company has assisted U.S. and international law enforcement agencies in freezing approximately $550 million in USDT linked to Iran's central bank and Iranian sanctions networks.Tether said that in April of this year, based on information provided by the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and U.S. law enforcement agencies, the company froze more than $344 million in USDT across two addresses; in July, as the U.S. Treasury Department expanded sanctions on Iran's central bank, the company froze more than $130 million in USDT across four TRON addresses. The two actions totaled approximately $550 million.It has now collaborated with more than 340 law enforcement agencies across 67 countries and regions worldwide, supporting over 2,900 investigations, of which more than 1,600 involve U.S. law enforcement agencies, with cumulative frozen assets exceeding $4.9 billion, of which more than $2.4 billion is related to U.S. law enforcement agencies.Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated that public blockchains enable law enforcement agencies to trace the flow of funds, and Tether can take freezing measures upon receiving credible information from law enforcement, and will continue to assist in combating sanctions evasion, terrorist financing, and other financial crimes.
