Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino says USDT is coming to the Bitcoin network, expanding the world’s largest stablecoin deeper into Bitcoin’s ecosystem.
This isn’t completely out of nowhere. Tether has already been working on multiple Bitcoin based routes for USDT, including RGB, while also pursuing integration with Bitcoin’s Lightning Network for faster, lower cost payments.
The bigger significance is what this could do for Bitcoin beyond simply holding BTC. Bringing a widely used dollar stablecoin onto Bitcoin could support payments, transfers and dollar denominated activity directly within the ecosystem.
Tether has also invested in Bitcoin infrastructure through Ark Labs, specifically to expand stablecoin issuance and settlement on Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is getting more than just BTC. It’s becoming a potential home for digital dollars too. $USDT $BTC
