A Bitcoin whale movement from the network’s early days has put 600 $BTC back on the radar.
Twelve addresses that had been inactive for more than 16 years moved a combined 600 BTC, worth about $48 million at the time.
The coins came from mining rewards earned in March 2010, when each Bitcoin block carried a 50 BTC reward.
Lookonchain initially identified seven of the wallets, which moved 350 BTC before the wider movement was tracked.
One of the addresses had held its 50 BTC reward since March 5, 2010, before moving it roughly 16.5 years later.
On-chain research found no confirmed connection between these wallets and Satoshi Nakamoto, so the movement should be seen as an early-miner wallet transfer, with the eventual destination of the BTC still unclear.
