SOUTH KOREA JUST PUSHED TOKENIZED CAPITAL MARKETS ANOTHER STEP FORWARD: A $100 MILLION BANK BOND HAS BEEN ISSUED USING EUROCLEAR’S BLOCKCHAIN INFRASTRUCTURE.

Hana Bank issued a $100M, five-year foreign-currency digital bond using Euroclear distributed-ledger infrastructure.

It is reported as the first South Korean digital bond issued directly through Euroclear’s blockchain infrastructure.

The operational improvement is notable: allocation and payment settlement that can traditionally require roughly 3–5 business days was compressed to same-day settlement.

WHY IT MATTERS: The RWA story is increasingly moving from pilots toward real institutional debt issuance.

INTERPRETATION: 🟢 Faster settlement and lower operational friction strengthen blockchain’s institutional use case. 🔴 A digital bond does not automatically create public-chain liquidity or demand for a specific crypto token.

Will bonds—not stocks—become the biggest institutional blockchain use case first?
