POLYGON IS PREPARING TO BURN 100M POL
Polygon Foundation CEO Sandeep Nailwal says 100 million POL is set to be permanently burned once a permissionless burn contract receives final Security Council approval and goes live on mainnet.
The first burn would remove roughly 0.9% of POL’s current supply, with the contract then allowing the community to trigger additional burns every quarter.
This doesn’t create a hard cap for POL, but it could strengthen the token’s deflationary mechanics as network fees continue contributing tokens to the burn system.
100M POL is about to disappear permanently. The bigger story is what happens with the quarterly burns afterward.
