Faster Chains Can Centralize Faster ⚠️

There is an uncomfortable side effect to making distributed systems more demanding.

The better the performance gets, the more expensive it becomes to participate from infrastructure that is poorly connected.

$SOL makes that trade-off especially visible because validators operate inside tight performance requirements where networking can meaningfully affect how competitive an operator remains.

If the best answer is always moving the machine into whichever data-center region already has the strongest connectivity, the protocol becomes physically less distributed as it becomes technically faster.

That problem matters even for networks like $ADA where broad geographic participation has been part of the decentralization story from the beginning.Validator software cannot protect geography when the economics underneath it punish certain locations forever.
