Imagine seeing a meme coin go from around $37 to more than $200.

You think youโ€™ve found the next 10x.

Then, almost before you can react, it crashes around 98%.

Thatโ€™s what happened to $LAPTOP, the meme coin launched by Hunter Biden on the Base network.

And honestly, the price chart tells only half the story. ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿš€ FROM HYPE TO CHAOS

$LAPTOP launched on September 9 and immediately went crazy.

The token surged into the hundreds of dollars within minutes, with reports showing peaks above $200 and even higher depending on the market and timing.

Then came the reversal.

๐Ÿ’ฅ The price collapsed roughly 95โ€“98% from its early highs.

Some traders were left holding massive losses while others managed to get out early.

One reported trader turned approximately $250K into $1.18M, while the New York Post reported that roughly 80% of buyers suffered major losses.

Thatโ€™s the brutal side of meme coins.

Someoneโ€™s huge profit can literally be someone elseโ€™s exit liquidity.

๐Ÿป BUT WAS IT A โ€œRUG PULLโ€?

This is where things get interesting.

Almost immediately, people started calling $LAPTOP a rug pull.

But we need to be careful here.

There is no established proof that Hunter Biden personally dumped his tokens during the crash.

Hunter has denied the scam allegations and blamed liquidity problems and predatory trading activity, while saying the tokenโ€™s allocations and contract information were disclosed.

At the same time, on chain data has raised questions about token distribution and liquidity.

CoinDesk reported that the token briefly reached an implied valuation of around $1.6 billion while pooled liquidity was only about $2.5 million an enormous mismatch that helps explain why the price could move so violently.

So right now:

Crash? โœ… Absolutely.

Huge investor losses? โœ… Yes.

Rug pull proven? โŒ Not at this point.

That distinction matters.

๐Ÿ’ฐ AND HERE'S THE REAL LESSON

This isn't just about Hunter Biden.

It's about what happens when you combine:

๐Ÿ”ฅ Celebrity

๐Ÿ”ฅ Politics

๐Ÿ”ฅ Meme culture

๐Ÿ”ฅ Thin liquidity

๐Ÿ”ฅ Bots & fast traders

๐Ÿ”ฅ FOMO

A coin can look unstoppable on the chart while the actual amount of liquidity behind that price is tiny.

And once the buying stops.

The chart can fall faster than most people can react.

A recent academic study of meme coin markets also found widespread manipulation strategies involving automated trading, coordinated selling, wash trading and social media manipulation.

๐Ÿ‘€ SO WOULD I BUY $LAPTOP AFTER THE CRASH?

Personally, I wouldn't look at a 98% crash and automatically think:

โ€œCheap!โ€

A token falling 98% doesn't mean it's undervalued.

It can simply mean the market has repriced it.

And that's probably the biggest lesson here:

-98% doesn't automatically mean opportunity.

Sometimes it means the hype is gone.

๐Ÿ”ฅ NOW I WANT TO KNOW YOUR TAKE

If you saw $LAPTOP after this massive crash, what would you do?

๐ŸŸข BUY โ€” HIGH-RISK OPPORTUNITY

๐ŸŸก WAIT โ€” LET THE MARKET STABILIZE

๐Ÿ”ด STAY AWAY โ€” TOO RISKY

Because the interesting question isn't just โ€œWill $LAPTOP recover?โ€

It's:

Was this just extreme meme coin volatility.or a warning sign for the next celebrity token?
