Nearly $1B of RLUSD on XRPL Changes the Bigger $XRP Story
The XRP Ledger is becoming more than a network built around $XRP itself.
RLUSD, Ripple's dollar-backed stablecoin, has now reached roughly $2B in total market cap, with about $963M issued on the XRP Ledger as of August 25. That puts XRPL very close to the $1B milestone.
What makes this interesting is the type of activity a stablecoin can bring to a network.
RLUSD can be used for payments, settlement, liquidity and tokenized assets without requiring users to take $XRP price exposure. That gives institutions and businesses a dollar-denominated asset they can move on-chain while still using XRPL infrastructure.
The numbers are also moving beyond supply. RLUSD recorded about $11.8B in monthly transfer volume as of August 25, although transfer volume doesn't automatically mean $11.8B of real-world payments. It can include exchanges, custodians and wallet movements.
That distinction matters.
The bullish argument isn't simply that RLUSD is getting bigger. It's that a growing stablecoin economy could create more reasons for institutions to use XRPL.
And there is an interesting twist:
XRPL's long-term value may increasingly come from what happens on the network, not just from $XRP being traded.
