Bitcoin (BTC) Market Update โ€” August 21, 2026

$BTC is making a powerful comeback today, with BTC breaking above the $75,000 level and reaching roughly $75,900 intraday. The move has pushed Bitcoin to its strongest levels in months and brought fresh optimism back into the crypto market.

๐Ÿš€ Whatโ€™s Driving the Rally?

One major factor is renewed institutional demand. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded around $517 million in net inflows, their strongest daily inflow since May 4.

The rally has also been supported by a massive short squeeze. More than $2.7 billion in Bitcoin short positions were liquidated, adding significant buying pressure as bearish traders were forced to close positions.

Another catalyst is the U.S. Treasuryโ€™s plan to expand purchases of longer-term government debt, which helped push bond yields lower and improve risk appetite. Meanwhile, renewed optimism around U.S. crypto regulation has also strengthened sentiment.

๐Ÿ“Š What Iโ€™m Watching Next

The key question now is whether $BTC can hold above $75,000 rather than simply spike through it. A sustained move above this area could open the door to further upside, while a sharp rejection could trigger a healthy pullback after such a fast rally.

For me, the market is clearly bullish in the short term, but after a move of this size, volatility and profit-taking can increase quickly.

My view: $BTC has regained strong momentum, but traders should avoid chasing every green candle. The next few sessions will be important for confirming whether this is the beginning of a larger breakout or a short-term squeeze.
