Something about Dusk that I didn't fully appreciate until recently — they didn't just build a privacy chain and call it a day. They built Moonlight alongside it.
Here's why that matters to me: most "privacy coins" eventually run into the same wall — regulators and exchanges get nervous, and the coin gets delisted or restricted somewhere. @Dusk sidesteps that by giving users a choice. You can transact privately when you need confidentiality, or go public with Moonlight when you don't. Same chain, same asset, your call. That flexibility is honestly underrated in how people talk about this project.
The other thing I noticed digging into their consensus design — node voters get rewarded too, not just block producers. Most chains only pay the ones producing blocks. Dusk spreads it out, which in theory means better decentralization since more participants have a real incentive to run nodes and vote honestly.
Small design choices like these are usually where you can tell whether a team actually thought through the hard problems, or just copied what everyone else does. Dusk seems to be in the former camp.
