The Dogecoin community has successfully crowdfunded a bronze statue of Kabosu, the Japanese Shiba Inu that inspired the Doge meme and the Dogecoin cryptocurrency. The statue will be unveiled in Sakura Furusato Square on November 2, 2023, serving as a physical meeting place for Doge enthusiasts worldwide.
The campaign, launched on Kabosu's 17th birthday, was initiated by the Dogecoin Foundation, Own The Doge, and Atsuko Sato, Kabosu's owner. Despite the market downturn resulting from the collapse of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange, the fundraising persisted, reaching its initial goal of $42,069 within just 72 hours.
Sakura Furusato Square, a picturesque park often frequented by Atsuko Sato and Kabosu, will serve as the backdrop for this tribute to the world's most beloved dog, symbolizing positivity and unity within the Dogecoin community.
