Sometimes, good news for a crypto project doesn't immediately translate into a higher token price. $NEAR is a perfect example of that right now.
NEAR Protocol's House of Stake has approved proposal HSP-029, targeting a reduction in maximum annual token issuance from 2.5% to 1.6% over 24 months.
The proposal could prevent approximately 11.8 million NEAR from entering circulation during its first two years.
That's a meaningful step toward reducing dilution and improving long-term token economics.
But here's what traders need to understand: better tokenomics don't automatically create buying pressure.
The remaining governance and implementation steps still matter, so this isn't an immediate supply shock.
What about NEAR's ecosystem?
NEAR Intents and its expanding cross-chain ecosystem remain important adoption drivers.
However, real growth needs to translate into sustainable network activity and actual demand for the NEAR token. That's what I would watch rather than relying on transaction numbers alone.
The chart tells a different story.
NEAR is trading around $4.005 in the latest available snapshot, following a recovery from $3.698 to $4.135.
But buyers couldn't maintain that momentum.
Here are the important levels:
- Resistance: $4.05–$4.06
- Major resistance: $4.135
- Next upside target: $4.20
- Support: $3.98
- Critical support: $3.916
- Lower support: $3.807
Price is also trading below MA7, MA14 and MA28, while recent volume remains below its short-term averages.
That tells me buyers still need to prove their strength.
My trading outlook
I'm staying neutral for now.
Bullish scenario: A strong reclaim of $4.06 with increasing volume could bring $4.135 and potentially $4.20 into focus.
Bearish scenario: Continued rejection below the moving averages could send NEAR toward $3.98 and $3.916.
I wouldn't chase either direction without confirmation.
The bigger picture
I like NEAR's move toward lower inflation. But long-term value creation requires more than reducing supply.
It needs adoption, ecosystem growth and genuine token demand.
What's your take? Can NEAR's new 1.6% issuance target help drive its next major rally, or does the ecosystem need to deliver stronger demand first?
Let's discuss. $NEAR
